Taylor & Murphy received the prestigious 2005 “Best Heavy-Highway Project” Pinnacle Award from the Carolinas AGC for the construction of the Liberty Bridge on the Reedy River in Greenville, SC. At 345 feet long and 12 feet wide, the concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable. The deck’s distinctive curve has a radius of 214 feet and it is cantilevered toward the waterfall from supporting cables on the outside. The bridge deck inclines 12 feet or 3% from east to the west over the river. The structure has become a focal point for the City and has been vital for the revitalization of this area of downtown Greenville.
